As part of the Healthy Kids Community Challenge- Flemingdon Health Centre and South Riverdale CHC are co-leading the 2018 Fun Fair Event in Flemingdon Park! Art Ignite artists will be there to show children how to make vegetable and fruit monsters out of modeling clay. This is a free event for all community members to attend. It includes free entertainment, music, recreational activities and healthy snacks for children.
This workshop series will begin with an introduction to portraiture and glass painting. Participants will then engage in one-on-one discussion while they photograph each other. These photographs will then be used to paint each other’s portraits on mirrors. We hope the conversations and paintings that result from this project will change the way we view our community members and break through the socially constructed biases we have about others. Throughout last fall and winter, we lead a light painting workshop for Marc Garneau students in which they designed stencils inspired by images they felt close connections to. This spring, we’re exhibiting the light paintings at MGCI’s annual student art exhibition. We hope you will join us to view and celebrate the phenomenal work created through this project!
